Following on from the success of the first movie, three other movies (Stitch! The Movie, Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch and Leroy and Stitch) and two TV series (Lilo and Stitch: The Series and Stitch!) were made.

Before they released the original film, Disney released trailers featuring Stitch in some classic scenes from other previous Walt Disney classics, including Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid.

Jason Scott Lee who voices David in the movie has also played Mowgli in the 1994 version of The Jungle Book. Both he and Tia Carrere (who voiced Nani) are of Hawaiian descent, and were able to help with the dialog for the movie.

Other key characters in the film include Jumba, Pleakley, Cobra Bubbles, Grand Councilwoman, Captain Gantu and Mrs Hasagawa.

Although the movie was released in 2002, the character Stitch was actually created back in 1985, making him 17 years old when he debuted.
