Lady (a cocker spaniel) lives a good life with Jim Dear and Darling, but when they have their first baby, things are no longer as good as they used to be. Then they go on vacation, leaving Lady with Aunt Sarah who doesn't like dogs at all, and Lady's life changes as she follows Tramp, a dog without a home, around the dangerous streets where dog catchers roam.

Well-known singer, Peggy Lee, voiced Peg, Darling and the troublesome Siamese cats, Si and Am. Siam is the old name for Thailand, and where Siamese cats come from.

You may have seen/heard the Beaver before. He also appeared, with the same styling and voice in Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.

At the end of the film, a puppy is seen that looks a bit like Tramp. His name is Scamp, and he had his own movie released in 2001, Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure.

A few of the other key characters include Jock, Trusty, Tony, Dachsie, Joe and Toughy.

The most iconic scene in the movie, where Lady and Tramp are eating the same piece of spaghetti, has been recreated a number of times for other shows including The Simpsons (in more than just one episode), The Lion King 1.5 and Pound Puppies.
